PDP Sets Up Caretaker Committee In Abia State (Full List)


The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the constitution of a caretaker committee to manage the party’s affairs in Abia State.

The development was disclosed on Monday in a statement issued by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, who confirmed that the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) approved the appointments on behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC).

According to the statement, the caretaker committee will oversee the party’s operations in the state for a period not exceeding 90 days or until a new executive committee is duly elected in line with the party’s constitution.

Members Of The Caretaker Committee

The PDP named the following party leaders as members of the Abia State Caretaker Committee:

  • Mr. Ikpegbu Emeka-Yellow — Chairman

  • Chief Ochiobi Fidel Chukwuemeka — Member

  • Engr. Gladys Okoro — Member

  • Chief Chijindu Kalu — Member

  • Samuel Chukwudi Mike — Member

  • Hon. Seth Agomuo — Member

  • Mrs. Ugo Kalu — Member

  • Barr. Obinna Nwaogwugwu — Member

  • Felix Nwagbara — Secretary

Mandate And Responsibilities

The party stated that the committee’s mandate is to manage and stabilise party affairs in Abia State in accordance with the PDP Constitution (2025, as amended).

It added that members are expected to operate strictly within the provisions of the party’s constitution, the Electoral Act 2022 and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) while carrying out their responsibilities.

The PDP said the move is aimed at ensuring continuity of party activities and maintaining organisational structure in the state pending the emergence of a new executive leadership.
